Quick answer: For American Family Field parking, buy prepaid parking online or pay by QR code on site; the lots use license plate recognition. Lots open three hours before most games (2.5 hours for weekday night games). Tailgating is allowed with approved gas grills or self-contained charcoal units and must end 30 minutes after first pitch. Rideshare uses the lot at the south end of the Molitor Lot. For groups that want to tailgate without a driver, a Sprinter van is the easiest way home.

Parking lots and prices

The ballpark’s lots include the Molitor Lot (with the rideshare area), the American Family Lot and the Cooper Lot for motorcycles and scooters, plus preferred and general parking areas. The lots use license plate recognition, with no cashiers: buy prepaid parking online and activate it on site, or pay by QR code with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a credit card, according to the Brewers.

Standard car rates aren’t listed on the parking page, so check when you buy. Oversized vehicles, longer than 18 feet and shorter than 36 feet, pay for two stalls: $54 preferred or $34 general on weekdays, and $84 preferred or $44 general on weekends, Opening Day and Cubs games. Postseason parking is sold with tickets and delivered digitally.

Tailgating rules

Tailgating is a big part of a Brewers game, and the rules are specific, per the Brewers tailgating page:

  • When: lots open three hours before most games (2.5 hours for weekday night games). No early entry.
  • Grills: only state-approved gas or propane units with fuel shut-off valves, or self-contained charcoal units. No open flames or wood fires.
  • Charcoal: dump all charcoal in the coal bins provided.
  • Space: one vehicle per space; you can’t buy extra spaces or save spots for friends. Groups can arrange custom tailgate areas through Brewers Group Sales.
  • Alcohol: follow the law; underage drinking is prohibited.
  • Ending: tailgating must stop 30 minutes after the game starts, and lots close within an hour after the game ends.

Groups and birthday outings

Birthday parties, bachelor groups, company outings and youth teams are where a private ride makes the most sense. A Sprinter van holds a group of about 12 to 15 so everyone arrives together, can tailgate without anyone driving, and leaves together. For a custom tailgate area, contact Brewers Group Sales. In Milwaukee, Pharaoh’s Transportation runs Sprinter vans, SUVs and hourly chauffeur service for Brewers games and group outings. See sporting event transportation in Milwaukee or group transportation in Milwaukee.
